Book Read
I took Colleen's advice and read Truth & Beauty by Ann Patchett. (See the June 28th entry.) What a sad story made even more tragic by the realization that Grealy cannot defend herself against some of the claims in Patchett's memoir. If I die tragically, I hope that one of my friends takes it upon herself/himself to write a memoir about our relationship that depicts me as being manic, selfish, and loose.

take it you didn't like it?
I liked it -- it was a beautifully written book. It just was uncomfortable reading it, knowing that there's always two viewpoints to any story, and there's no way for Grealy to address some of the unflattering things that Patchett wrote.
